Frequently Asked Questions-
As we head into a new program year, I would like to start a Frequently Asked Questions section for Family Fitness Educators. Whether you have been running the program for several years now, or newly trained, we can all learn best practices from each other. Here is today's FAQ:
Number of Program Leaders & Particpants- We suggest you have 2 trained program leaders per site per 10-15 children. This allows each leader time to help co-teach a lesson section. This allows one leader the ability to transition into the next lesson topic, such as physical actiity into the nutrition lesson section, with the most ease and time efficiency. It also allows greater supervision of the children. Only one leader is needed for the family sessions, since the parents are in attendance to interact with their child. For the first and fourth parent/ family session, these are targeted only to the parents, but children can come along to work on homework, or play with the physical actiivty equipent. Children can join in at the end for the taste-testing, and family goal sharing time. You may need another leader to help supervise them, especially if they need to be in another room or have siblings attend. The best room to be in for these sessions is a large cafeteria, where they can be in seperate areas and join together at the end.

Lynn, we were wondering if you had a sample budget for this program. How much does it cost per family? Do you typically charge families to participate?
